CARRUTHERS, Dorothy Elizabeth It is with sadness that the death of Dorothy Elizabeth (Loane) Carruthers is announced. Dorothy, a former resident of Victoria, passed away in hospital at Fredericton, New Brunswick, on December 27, 2004, at age 86. Dorothy was born at home in South Bathurst, New Brunswick, the second daughter of the late John Loane and the late Maude (Branch) Loane. She was educated in the schools in Bathurst and was a graduate in nursing from the Royal Victoria Hospital in Montreal. She continued her studies in public health at Dalhousie University and the University of Toronto. While a resident of Victoria, she had been active in her church, FirstMetropolitan United Church. She was predeceased by her husband, Dr. Ewen P. Carruthers, of Victoria, British Columbia, a heart specialist, her parents, and her older sister, Marjorie Loane, of Ottawa. She is survived by her younger sisters, Roberta Scott (late Gordon) of Fredericton, and Harriet Scott (Elmer) of Moncton, six nieces and nephews, and thirteen grand-nieces and nephews. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2004, at 2:00 p.m. in the J.A. McAdam Memorial Chapel of McAdam's Select Community Funeral Home in Fredericton, NB, with the Rev. Chris Levan officiating. Burial will take place at a later date in the family plot in the First United Church Cemetery at Bathurst.
