<!-- FH = Culley's MeadowWood Funeral Home -->Dorothy Elizabeth Burruss WallaceDorothy Elizabeth Burruss Wallace died July 29, at home in Tallahassee, where she lived for 53 years. She was married to L.E. Wallace, who died in 1997. One of eight brothers and sisters, she was born in the Jackson, Tennessee area in 1918.Dottie was raised in the Baptist Church and joined East Hill Baptist when she and her husband moved to Tallahassee. At East Hill, she was very active in choir, Sunday School, and church activities. Dottie also worked for many years in the church office at First Baptist Church of Tallahassee. After her retirement at First Baptist, she remained active: she sang with the Joy Choir, volunteered in the office, and taught English to International Students and their families. As a child, she learned to play bridge and played until recently in bridge clubs and groups around Tallahassee.During WWII, when L.E. was with the 5th Army in the Italian campaign, she worked in a munitions factory in Memphis, Tennessee.She is survived by her two sons: Don Wallace of Mt. Vernon, Georgia, and Dave Wallace; sister Helen Whitman of Conyers Georgia; grandchildren Dave Wallace, Jr. of Statesboro, Georgia, Emily Wallace Renstrom of Jacksonville, Florida, Betsy Wallace Collum of Nashville, Tennessee and Donald James Wallace, Jr. of Mt. Vernon, Georgia; and great grand-daughter Harper Elizabeth Collum of Nashville, Tennessee. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 4th at 7:00 pm, at East Hill Baptist Church, 912 Miccosukee Road.Rev. Fran Buhler will officiate. The family will receive visitors in the fellowship hall after the service. Those wishing to send flowers can send them directly to East Hill Baptist Church.
