MERRIMACK -- Dorothea B. Kane, 88, of Merrimack, died June 3, 2009, at home. She was born Feb. 26, 1921, in Woburn, Mass., to Osborne and Edith (Buel) Bezanson. She attended Rogers Hall Prep School in Lowell, Mass., and Bradford College. She worked tirelessly with her husband in his drugstore in New Boston for many years before moving to Merrimack in 1963. Affectionately known as "Skibby" by many, she was always genuinely interested in people, which endeared her to many. She enjoyed horseback riding, gardening, the ocean, travel and reading. She was particularly fond of biographies and American history. Some of her happiest memories were on the golf course with her family. She was predeceased by her husband, Bernard Kane, in 2001, and a sister, Elizabeth Gammon, in 2006. A special thank you to Dorothy Hebert, whose kind and immeasurable help will never be forgotten. IN HER LIFE: Family members include two sons and a daughter-in-law, Douglas and Donna Kane of Hebron, and Stephen Kane of Merrimack; two grandsons, Darryl Kane of Hebron and Devin Kane of Sanbornton; three great-grandchildren; a half brother, Steve Bezanson of Texas, and several nieces and nephews. SERVICES: A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 20, at 11 a.m. at Last Rest Cemetery, Baboosic Lake Rd., Merrimack. Donations may be made to the VNA of Manchester and Southern New Hampshire, 33 S. Commercial St., Manchester 03101. For more info, or to sign an on-line guestbook go to www.rivetfuneralhome.com.
