WALLACE, Donald Barclay 1909 2007 It is with great sadness that we announce that Donald (Don) Wallace passed away on June 16th at the age of 97. Born in Halifax, Nova Scotia he was the only child of the late Herbert Wallace and Florence Barclay Wallace. He graduated from Acadia University with a B.A. in 1931. After receiving his M.A. from the University of Toronto in 1934 he joined the staff of the Financial Post. In 1935 he was employed by the Canadian Pacific in Montreal and was involved in special transportation and economic studies. He was Company representative at the hearings across Canada of the Royal Commission on Federal-Provincial Relations and the Royal Commission on Coal. He served as Administration Manager of the Atlantic Ferry Bomber Services in 1940-41, which later became the RAF Ferry Command. In 1942 he was appointed Assistant to the Vice-President of Canada Pacific Air. During 1943-44 he was involved in Special Representative company duties in Ottawa. He joined the Department of Public Relations and Advertising in 1945 and retired as General Manager in 1972. During his 37 years with Canadian Pacific he was engaged in a variety of promotional programs in Canada and abroad related to its land, sea and air services. He was actively involved in developing the Canadian art and decorative theme for the transcontinental train, The Canadian" and was responsible for the design of a new Canadian Pacific corporate communication program. He served as President of the Association of Railway Advertising Managers; Chairman, Canadian Information Abroad Conference and was a life member of the Canadian Railway Club of Montreal. He moved to Victoria in 1998 and until his death at the Royal Jubilee Hospital on June 16th, he resided at Joan Crescent Manor. The family would like to express their thanks to Anne-Marie and her staff for the excellent care he received there during his final years. Special thanks go to Surinder, Lisa, Irene and Jessica. He is predeceased by his first wife, Eileen Mae Kelly, his second wife, Mary Lockhart, his son, James, his half-sister, Peggy Winsby (Ken) and his half-brother Doug (Jean). He is survived by his daughter, Elizabeth Wallace, his son, Robert (Ena) and grandchildren Dr. Jean Wallace (William MacGillivary), Bruce Wallace (Brenda Macevicius), Janet Wallace, Anne-Marie Simoneau and Valerie (Peter) Saunders and great-grandchildren Celeste Macevicius and Jay Wallace and his half-sister, Kay Archibald. A private service will be held. If desired, donations may be made to Acadia University or the charity of your choice. 381371
