HARRISON, David P., 90, of Lake Placid, FL, was called home to be with his Lord early Wednesday morning January 7, 2014. Mr. Harrison was in the companionship of his loving wife. He was the son of Ms. Eunice & Mansel Harrison, born October 9, 1924, in Elba, AL. At the age of 15, Mr. Harrison came to Lake Placid. He started working in the fields farming with Reynolds Farms. Mr. Harrison later went to work for J.M. Whitaker & Sons in Sebring, operating a drag line. He helped develop the Placid Lakes area in Lake Placid. Somewhere in the early 60's, Mr. Harrison began his caladium opera-tions business from which he retired. He was a mem-ber of the Placid Temple Church of God. Mr. Harrison is survived by his wife, Gail, of 68 years; children, David Lamar (Joyce), Malcom (Tammy), Joan Huff, Cheryl Lowry (Blake); siblings, Shirley Cauley (Larry), Vesta Rhodes, Paul, Robey (Martha); 12 grandchildren and he was blessed with 18 great-grandchildren. Family will receive friends for a viewing from 6-8 p.m. on Friday, January 9, at Placid Temple Church of God. Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 10, also at Placid Temple Church. The Pastors D. West and Lonnie Wells will celebrate. Inter-ment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery.
