MACKAY, Daniel Robert (July 27, 1931 May 8, 2010) We are saddened to announce the passing of Dan Mackay at the Cowichan District Hospital, on May 8, 2010. He was treated with the greatest kindness during his battle with Cancer, and left peacefully in the early hours of morning. He is predeceased by father, James, mother, Edith, sister, Joan, & granddaughter, Jessica. He is survived by, brother Peter. He will be greatly missed by, wife, Norma, children, Judith (Dave), Robert (Kathy), & Nancy (Stanley), & grandchildren, Caroline, Scott, & Daniel. Dan was born in Toronto, Ontario, & at the age of 4 mos., left with his family for Jamaica. He lived there, went to school, grew up & married Norma Delisser. The family returned to Canada in 1981 where they resided in Victoria, Sooke, & finally Lake Cowichan. Dan had many friends, was known as an enthusiastic, if not skilled, fisherman, a fabulous tennis player & a gardener of miracle proportions. His distinctive accent, his sense of humour, his love of Jamaican food, his ability to never stop planning for the future, his love of God & Family are just a few of the things that will be missed. He leaves a huge gap in our lives, we can only take comfort in the thought that Jessie will finally have her Gramps again. A Celebration of Dan's Life will be held @ St. Christophers Anglican Church in Lake Cowichan, Thurs., May 13 @ 1p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Christopher and St. Aidan Anglican Church.
