SNYDER, Dale ErnestFebruary 23, 1936 - May 3, 2012Dale Ernest Snyder of Calgary passed away peacefully surrounded by family on May 3, 2012 at the age of 76 years. Dale was born in Bassano and grew up in Calgary. Dale was an accomplished person in life and in business, always giving his best. He was a natural athlete and as a young man played basketball for both SAIT and Olds College. He also excelled at baseball, football and curling. Dale graduated from SAIT as a Certified Engineering Technologist in the early 1960s. He was an entrepreneur in the oil industry and ran a successful business, "Sandale Petroleum Consulting", from 1982 until he retired in 2008. Dale devoted many years to the Active 20/30 Club service organization. More recently he loved spending time with his grandkids and photography. In his early twenties, Dale took up the sport of golf and was immediately hooked. He played until two years ago, mostly with his wife Sandra who grew to share his passion, at the Bearspaw Golf Course. In the latter part of his life, he and Sandra spent a few months each year in Arizona, where they enjoyed golf, lawn bowling, and the company of their many good friends, especially Fred and Marg. As much as Dale will be missed, we take comfort in knowing he is on the 19th hole with his beloved Sandra (2010). He was also predeceased by his mother, Veril; father, Lester; sister, Noreen and brothers: Miles and Ray. Dale will be greatly missed by his daughters: Karen (Tim), Laurie (Dale); sons: Darren, Michael and Steven; his grandchildren: Ryan, Jenna, Caitlyn, Aydan, Kieran and Travis; sister, Marion and sister- in-law, Joan. We would like to thank the Staff at Millrise Intercare and The Lodge at Valley Ridge for their excellent care. A Celebration of Dale's Life will be held in the Chapel of MOUNTAIN VIEW FUNERAL HOME on Monday, May 14, 2012 at 2:00 pm.
