Dale Arthur Madden, 74, passed away on Thursday Oct. 18, 2007, at his home in Rockville, Md. Dale grew up in Daytona Beach and graduated from Seabreeze High School in 1951. He attended MIT before spending two years at the Army Chemical Center as a biochemist. He returned to MIT for his MS in chemical engineering, then worked eight years at Atlantic Research Corp. where he received two patents for solid propellant rockets. He later attended George Washington University completing the course requirements for a Ph.D. in mathematical statistics. He chaired the Washington, D.C., section of the American Society for Quality and taught courses in quality assurance and statistics. Dale spent four years at Booz-Allen as a statistician then joined the FDA as an Operations Research Analyst. He was a statistician with the FDA for twenty-nine years. He was a Certified Myers-Briggs Type Indicator Professional. Dale is survived by his beloved wife, Marilyn, Rockville, Md.; his son, David, Mobile, Ala.; his son, Paul, Hagerstown, Md.; his daughter, Carla, Huntsburg, Ohio; seven grandchildren; his mother, Wilmetta Madden; sister, Doris Walton; and neice, Sonja Hadad, all of Johnson City, Tenn.
