Burke, Christopher J. TROY, N.Y. Christopher J. Burke, passed away on his 60th birthday December 31, 2010 from cardiac arrest being amongst family and friends. He was the son of Muriel (Brewer) Burke and the late Christo-pher R. Burke. He is prede-ceased by his sister Sharon (Burke) Moore, 51 and his younger brother, Michael "Kevin" Burke, 44. Born and raised in Griswold Heights Troy, he has lived in Albia for the past 12 years. He graduated from Troy High School, class of 1969. As a member of the U.S. Air Force from 1969-1973, he spent most of his career at Eglin Air Force Base in Florida where he loved to walk the beaches and swim the Gulf of Mexico. He retired from the Watervliet Arsenal in 2006 where he worked as quality control inspector for 32 years. He was a devout sports fan, with his favorites being the NY Giants and Mets. He greatly enjoyed his retirement where he could spend the days doing his three favorite things, playing golf, playing the ponies, and fishing the Hudson River. He even had a hole-in-one while playing the Arsenal Pitch & Putt course during lunch one day, of which he was the only one to witness it and his remark was "where is there a friend when you really need one?" Being a true sportsman, it's something you don't lie about. He also shot a 78 at Colonie his last time out. He was a devoted father and is survived by his daughter, Lisa and his best golfing buddy, son, Philip and former wife Lynn (Giuliano) Burke. He always loved participating in his children's lives, from coaching Phil's little league team, who were Section II Champions in 1991, and watching Lisa as she played softball. He often thought of moving to Florida when he retired but realized it was more important to be with his children. He was a caring brother to sisters, Sheila Hurless of Galloway, N.J. and Trish (Victor) Hayes of Clifton, Va. and brother, Richard (Joann) Burke; and many nieces and nephews. Donations can be made to the Coronary Care Unit of Albany Medical Center in his name. The services will be private for the family; however, there will be a gathering in remembrance of Chris for family and friends at the American Legion Post 1489 in Wynantskill, N.Y. on January 8 from 1-4 p.m. Arrangements are by the Thomas S. Connolly Funeral Home, 294 Whiteview Rd., Wynantskill, NY 12198.
