Christine Roark Williams, well known to family and friends as "Ma", 70, of 126 Lions Park Road, went home to be with her dear Lord on Monday evening, Nov. 28, 2005, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.Born on Jan. 19, 1935, in Johnson City, Tenn., until moving to South Carolina in 1976, she was a daughter of the late Samuel Ervin Luther and Donna Susan Oliver Roark and was a member of Dry Creek Freewill Baptist Church in Dry Creek, Tenn. Christine was a longtime employee of Kerr Finishing in Travelers Rest, S.C., and retired from US Finishing in Greenville.Surviving are her beloved and devoted husband of 43 years, Darius Williams (better known as "Pa" or "Doc"), married on Dec. 6, 1961, in Gate City, Va. Her daughter and son-in-law, Pam and Jim Lance. Her son and daughter-in-law, David "PeeWee" and Pam Williams, all of Marietta, S.C. Two granddaughters, Rebecca D. Lance and fiance, Russ Morgan of Greenville, S.C., and Makayla C. Lance of Marietta, S.C. six grandsons, Travis Raines and fiancee, Connie Lingerfelt, Adam M. Lance and fiancee, Nicki Draughon, Aaron M. Lance, Adam P. Singleton, and Andrew Lance, all of Marietta, S.C., and Scottie D. Williams of Edneyville, N.C. Two great-granddaughters, Madison Nicole Green and Riley Michelle Raines of Marietta, S.C. One great-grandson, Cooper Reece Morgan of Greenville, S.C. Two sisters, Mary Louise Cole of Kingsport, Tenn., and Barbara Webb and husband, Darryel, of Johnson City, Tenn. Two brothers, Emmett James "E.J." Roark and wife, Nora, and Luther Delano "L.D." Roark and wife, Ruth, both of Johnson City, Tenn. Three sisters-in-law, Etta Williams of Burnsville, N.C., Cendie Phillips of Travelers Rest, S.C., and Genevieve Edwards of Johnson City, Two brothers-in-law, Bob Williams of Johnson City, and Ed Williams and wife, Cathy, of Marietta, S.C.; and lots of nieces, nephews and cousins.She was preceded in death by two sisters, Blanche Roark and Beulah Maxine Cole. One brother, Samuel Chalmer Roark; and one granddaughter, Michele Lynn Lance."Ma" loved her family and friends, and she was well loved by everyone. She loved to watch her grandchildren play ball, watch her Braves play on TV, go fishing, play bingo, and she loved to eat out and spend time with her family and friends. "Ma" had been sick for a good while, but now she's gone home, and we will all miss her very much. "We Love You Mom".Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday morning at The Howze Mortuary Chapel in Travelers Rest, S.C., conducted by The Rev. Bennie Durham. Burial will follow the service in Coleman Memorial Cemetery.The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. this evening at The Howze Mortuary in Travelers Rest, S.C.The family will be at the home, 126 Lions Park Road, Marietta, S.C.The Howze Mortuary, Travelers Rest, S.C., is in charge of arrangements.
