Charles J. "Buster" White - SAVANNAH - Charles J. "Buster" White died Saturday night after a recent injury. Born February 3, 1914, he was a native Savannahian known for his association with the entertainment and sports fields. He was a member of the 18th Georgia Battalion of the Savannah Volunteer Guards and the Chatham Artillery. Mr. White was a member and inductee of the Savannah Athletic Hall of Fame and served on their Board of Directors for many years. He was also nominated to the Georgia Sports Hall of Fame. He is survived by his wife of seventy years, Elizabeth Dillard White; his son, Charles J. (Martha) White III of Columbia, South Carolina; his grandchildren, Holly White (Mike) Lever of Columbia, South Carolina and Charles Edwin White of Greer, South Carolina; his great-grandchildren, Michael Cory Lever and McKenzie Elizabeth Lever, both of Columbia, South Carolina and Darby Lynn White and Charles Parker White of Greer, South Carolina, and his sister Elizabeth White Monsees of Florida. The funeral service will be held at 3 o'clock Monday afternoon at the graveside, Bonaventure Cemetery, conducted by The Reverend Kenneth R. Leitner.
