LYNN -- Charles F. "Fred" Gallagher, 82, a Lowell native who worked for more than four decades at General Electric Co., and was a World War II veteran, died Thursday, March 16, in Salem Hospital, after a brief illness. He was the husband of Wanda (Gorecki) Gallagher, to whom he was married for 56 years.He was born in Lowell, son of the late George and Alice (Ryan) Gallagher. He was raised in Lowell, and graduated from Lowell High School in 1941. He lived most of his life in Lynn. Mr. Gallagher served in the U.S. Army during World War II.Mr. Gallagher worked for 44 years at General Electric Co., in Lynn, at various jobs, mainly welding.He was a communicant of St. Mary Church in Lynn.Besides his wife, he is survived by his five daughters and a son-in-law, Mary George and Dr. Andrew George of Bedford, N.H., Joan Gallagher of Lynn, Christine Gallagher of Dracut, Alice Gallagher of Lynn, and Frances Gallagher of Lawrence; five sons and three daughters-in-law, Charles and Paulette Gallagher of Lynn, John Gallagher of Goffstown, N.H., Paul and Joanne Gallagher of Newburyport, Frederick and Joan Gallagher of Ipswich, and Robert Gallagher of Washington, D.C.He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; and a great-granddaughter.He also leaves a sister-in-law, Anna Gallagher of Largo, Fla.; and several nieces and nephews.He was also the brother of the late George and William Gallagher, Helen Farnum and Alice Blease.
