Charles Douglas Adams, 80, husband of Pauline Rogers Adams, of 14 Windlass Court, Salem, S.C., died Saturday, May 2, 2009, at his residence.A native of Sheffield, Alabama, Mr. Adams was the son of the late William and Mildred Johnson Adams. He was a retired Aerospace Engineer with General Electric Corporation and member of St. Mark United Methodist Church. Mr. Adams was active in the church choir, Keowee Key Men's Golf Association and several bowling leagues. He was a graduate and avid fan of the University of Alabama.In addition to his wife of the home, Mr. Adams is survived by son, William James Adams and wife, Peggy, of Crofton, Md.; daughters, Denice Louise Benton and husband, Steven, of Shaker Heights, Ohio, and Rebecca Ann Adams-Oliver and husband, Rick, of Charlottesville, Va.; and grandchildren, Chas, Kevin and Brian Benton, Christian Adams, and Andrea and John Oliver.In addition to his parents, Mr. Adams was predeceased by brothers, J.W. Adams and Brewster Counce Adams.A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 6, 2009, at St. Mark United Methodist Church in Seneca. The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church.A private committal will be held at Heritage Memorial Gardens.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Oconee Hospice of the Foothills, Attn.
