Carl David Frost, 75, of Benton, IL, died at 3:15 p.m. Thursday, September 24, 2009 at Herrin Hospital. Mr. Frost was born on March 10, 1934 in Franklin County, IL, the son of William Pearl Frost and Sadie Fae (Denham) Frost. He married the former Dorris Hopkins on June 23, 1963 and she preceded him in death on November 26, 1992. He worked in the maintenance department for the Rend Lake Conservancy District prior to his retirement. He was a U.S. Army veteran, a member of the North Benton Baptist Church, and enjoyed spending time outdoors and with his family. Surviving relatives include two daughters, Carla Jean Frost, Benton, IL, Rita Kay Frost, West Frankfort, IL, one son, David Wayne Frost and wife Lisa, West Frankfort, IL, five grandchildren, Michael Frost, Benton, IL, Sheena Frost, West Frankfort, IL, Chastity Filkins and husband Matt, West Frankfort, IL, Joshua Frost, Christopher, IL, Jacob Frost, West Frankfort, IL, five great-grandchildren, Elijah Shores, Conner and Deacon Rowe, Levi Frost, Holden Frost, two sisters, Dora Hutchins, Benton, and Pat Overturf, West Frankfort, IL, and several nieces and nephews. Mr. Frost was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one daughter, Carol Jean Frost, one great-grandson, Gage Frost, two brothers, Woodrow and William K. Frost. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Monday, Sept. 28, 2009 at the Hobbs-Johnson Funeral Home, Benton, IL. Funeral services will be held at 12 p.m. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Tony Auxier officiating. Burial will be in the Logan Cemetery, Logan, IL with military rites performed by the Benton American Legion and V.F.W.
