Oxford - A celebration of Billy Williams will be held Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at Word Alive International Outreach. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. with celebration service starting at 4:30 p.m. with Pastor's Kent Mattox, Rick Reaves and Jerry Starling officiating and Miller Funeral Home and Crematory directing. At age 44, Billy died Sunday peacefully in Birmingham at the UAB Palliative Care Unit after a 20 month battle with Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma. He went through several different types of chemo therapy and radiation and fought a long and hard battle against this horrible disease. Billy started his career in the publishing business with Pollard Publishing and later formed Williams Publishing where he had several national magazines. Billy was very innovative and obtained a patent on one of his inventions the "Caddy Strap". Billy was a very fun-loving person and made everyone that he was around feel special even in his last days. Billy never met a stranger and was always the life of the party, would give you the shirt off his back, and always stopped to help a stranger. Billy will be greatly missed by so many and will never be forgotten. He left behind three girls who he loved very much, Cristi Noell Williams, his wife of 22 years; two daughters, Gracee Mae (13) and Preslee Michelle (12); his mother, Jeannie Hendrix; a sister, Rhonda Lopez, (Ed); several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, William Williams; brother, Johnny Williams, and grandmother, Jeanette Hyde. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made at BB&T to The Billy Williams Family Trust Fund, 2020 Hwy 78 East, Oxford, AL 36203.
