HAMILTON-In the early hours of Wednesday August 23, 2006, Beverley Joan Hamilton (nee McInnis) passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family after a brief but valiant battle with cancer. She began her next adventure with dignity, pride and with her family at her side every step of the way. Mom fought hard to beat the odds but in the end got tired. She was loved for her quick smile and hello, warm welcomes, zest for life and undeniable independence and strength. Mom was one to follow her dreams, which lead her to her home of 13 years in Penticton, BC. There she made many lifelong friends and touched the community of Penticton through her volunteerism, social activities, and community spirit. Some of the many events she annually volunteered and looked forward to were: Iron Man, Crafts for Kids at the Community Center and the Jazz Festival just to name a few. Her day to day volunteering included the Care Closet and noon meals for Seniors. She was also an accomplished Lawn Bowler, Curler, and clogger. Mom enjoyed numerous days both at Regina Beach in her early years and the Okanagan and Skaha beaches in her retirement years. She ventured out from Penticton annually to begin her drive from BC through Alberta to Saskatchewan to spend time with her 5 daughters and their families. After her 2-month expedition, she would then fly to Halifax to spend time with her son and his family. She always looked forward to these trips and would often find the doors barred when she was trying to depart for the next stop on her family tour because no one wanted her to leave. Every time her visits came to an end we all, including mom, had new laughs, new memories, and a renewed sense of spirit. We shared many cherished memories over soft ice cream, a bowl or 2 of popcorn and matrimonial cake. In her last moments, there were no goodbyes just see you laters just as it had always been. Bev was predeceased by her mother Mary Rosalie (Rose) McInnis and her father Norman Wellington McInnis; her husband James Stewart Hamilton and great grandson Brayden Nicholas McClelland. Bev is survived by her 6 children: Cindy (Jim) McClelland and 4 grandchildren of Saskatoon, Candy (Art) Seitz and 3 grandchildren of Kamloops, Wendy (Kirby) Bodnard and 2 grandchildren of Regina, Sandra Hamilton and granddaughter of Edmonton, Jeffrey (Marina) Hamilton and 2 grandchildren of Halifax and Shelley (Mark) Pfeifer and 2 grandchildren of North Battleford. There are also 2 great grandchildren and one on the way in January. Bev is also survived by brothers Ken (Helen) of Regina and Norm (Joyce) McInnis of Saskatoon and one sister Shirley (Fred) Ufton of Newcastle, ON. At Mom's request there will not be a funeral service. She will be cremated and her remains will be interred at St. Paul's Anglican Cathedral Columbarium at a later date. The family wishes to thank Dr Lotz, all the doctors and staff of the Pasqua Hospital ICU, 4D and the Allan Blair Cancer Centre for their compassion, understanding and unwavering support for Mom and her family. Mom often spoke of her wish to give back to the Allan Blair Cancer Centre for all that they did for her in the short time that she spent there. In lieu of flowers, donations will graciously be accepted at the Allan Blair Cancer Centre or the Canadian Cancer Society. Arrangements are entrusted to
