Dr. Bernard L. "Doc" Thomas, 80, of 105 Watson Rd., Taylors, S.C., died Thursday, August 7, 2008, at Greenville Memorial Hospital, Greenville, S.C.Born in Crown Pointe, Ind., he is the son of the late Joseph and Mary Thomas. He was a Navy Veteran of WWII. After retiring as a chiropractor, he owned Big Scoop Ice Cream Parlor in Taylors. He was a devoted husband, a wonderful father and great friend to all who knew him.Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Ginger Thomas, five children, Forest Thomas of Powdersville, Lee Thomas, St. Helena Island, S.C., Keith Thomas, Greer, Stormy Thomas, Taylors, Brandy Thomas-Foertsch, Taylors; thirteen grandchildren, six great-grandchildren; sister, Dorothy Griffin, GA.Out of respect for his wishes, in lieu of a visitation and funeral, we would like to have a commemorative party to celebrate his life at Brushy Creek Bar-B-Q, Hwy 81, Powdersville, SC, on Sunday, August 10, from 4-7. We respectfully request friends and family to attend.The family will be at 112 Merri Lane, Easley, SC.
