Avis de décès de Barbara-Eames Callahan


DUANESBURG/OWLS HEAD, Maine Barbara Eames Callahan, 92, formerly of Duanesburg, passed away peacefully at St. Clare's Hospital, Schenectady on June 9, 2006. Born in Neehdam, Mass. on November 12, 1913, she was the daughter of the late Dr. Haller and Bertha Monroe Eames. She married George A. Callahan who passed away on January 28, 1981. Barbara was a graduate of the Eastman Dental Hygiene School of Rochester. She dedicated her life to teaching dental hygiene. For many years she was employed at the Duanesburg Schools in the Boces Program and later at Schalmont and Berne Knox Westerlo Schools until her retirement. She was a member of the Eastman Alumni, a life member of the American Dental Association, a former director of the Schenectady Cancer Society. Barbara was on the Dental Hygiene Advisory Board at HVCC, a communicant and a chartered member of Our Lady of Fatima Church, Delanson, a past president of the church's Rosary Society and founder of the Food Pantry of Our Lady of Fatima Church and a strong community volunteer. Barbara greatly enjoyed travel and spent her summers in Maine. Her survivors include her son, Paul M. (Catherine) Callahan of Duanesburg; daughter, Jean C. (Harvey) Singer of Columbia, Md.; five grandchildren, Brian (Kelly) Callahan of Niskayuna, Sheila Callahan, Manchester, N.H., Caitlin Callahan of Saratoga Springs, Lt. Daniel Singer, Camp LeJeune, N.C. and Gregory Singer of Annapolis, Md. and two great-grandchildren, Riley and Addison Jean Callahan. She was predeceased by brothers, Frederick Eames of Chatham, N.Y. and David Eames of Gallupville, N.Y. Family and friends are invited to call at the White VanBuren Funeral Home, 1779 Main Street, Delanson on Sunday, June 11, 2006 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 12, 2006 at 8:15 a.m. Immediately following a Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 9 a.m. at Our Lady of Fatima Church, Delanson. Interment will be in Grove Cemetery, Delanson. In lieu of flowers, the family respectfully requests that donations may be made to the Food Pantry of Our Lady of Fatima Church, 1757 Alexander Road, PO Box 219, Delanson.
