BROOKS, Barbara (nee West) August 23, 1937 - April 25, 2013 Fondly known as Bubba, Barbara is survived by her devoted and beloved husband of 54 years Spike, her sons Michael (Dianne) and Robert (Judi) and predeceased by her daughter Jennifer (Rick). She is survived by her brother Ken (Betsy) and sister Elaine. Barbara was also a kind and gentle natured grandmother to Drew, Amy and Kate. Born and raised in Toronto, Barbara and her husband Spike moved to Victoria in 2005. Prior to her move west, Barbara lived very happily for many years enjoying the family farm in Wyebridge, Ontario. She was proud to contribute towards her community as Chair of the Muskoka Board of Education and in coordinating local responsibilities for Elections Canada. Barbara also ran Tamarack Studios in Gravenhurst and took great pleasure in showcasing local artists. At heart, Barbara was a fiercely proud Canadian and believed strongly in literacy and the arts. She was also particularly touched by the beauty of the lakes & woodlands of Muskoka and her neighborhood shorelines of Oak Bay. Barbara will be remembered by all who knew her for her endearing cheerfulness, her deep love for her husband Spike, and her absolute delight in the company of good friends and family. Special appreciation to the dedicated staff at the Royal Jubilee & Glengarry Hospitals for their ongoing care and attention to Barbara.
