DAYTONA BEACH - Aurele J. Denis, 84, of Lenox Avenue, who retired in 1973 as a cabinet maker in Norwich, Conn., and Daytona Beach, died Monday at the Hospice Care Center, Port Orange. Mr. Denis was born in Fountainbleau, Quebec, and moved to this area in 1958 from Jewett City, Conn. He was a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus and the Moose Lodge. He enjoyed woodworking, traveling, music, family visits and speaking French. Mr. Denis left school in the third grade to help his family out during the depression years. Survivors include his wife of 63 years, Bernadette; a son, Michel, Daytona Beach; three daughters, Lisette Gilkey and Pauline Barres, both of Ormond Beach, and Andree Theobald, Miami; a brother, Rene, Weedon, Quebec; two sisters, Madeleine Houde, Sherbrooke, Quebec, and Isabelle Denis, Weedon; 11 grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association, 140 S. Beach St., Suite 204, Daytona Beach, FL 32114, or to Hospice of Volusia/Flagler, 3800 Woodbriar Lane, Port Orange, FL 32129. Hannah Cremation, Holly Hill, is in charge.
