DOYLE _ Anne (Stobie) passed away peacefully on November 10th, 2003, after a short but courageous fight with cancer. Born in Glasgow, Scotland on March 31, 1934. Predeceased by her mother and father, Cathy and Jack, niece Anne, and beloved husband George. Lovingly missed by her sister Betty (Robert), brother Jackie, nieces Lisa (George), Lynsay (John), nephews Robert (Kirsten), David (Katrina), cousins Elizabeth, George, Ian, Robert, sister-in-law Helen and their families, longtime friends, John and Mavis, Bob and Marlyn, George and Joan, Margaret, Tania, Craig, Gary and their families plus many in-laws and friends. Anne was an active member in the Kerrisdale Legion Soccer Team, VWTC, being President in 1978, and the Terminal City Club. Anne worked as a furrier in Scotland and Empire Stevedoring in Vancouver, which gave her many years of joy. Anne had a vibrant and entertaining personality; she lived for over 30 years in the West End and came to enjoy many friendships in the neighborhood. She is one who will be truly missed by many people - the world is going to be a duller place. Glasgow Celtic have lost their best supporter, Rod Stewart has lost his biggest fan. Thanks to the "angels" in Palliative Care at VGH, also to Barbara Payne for being there for Anne through these painful months. A celebration of Anne's life will be held at the Terminal City Club, November 14 at 2:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the B.C. Cancer Foundation would be appreciated.
