COOPER DR. Anne. In her 69th year, after a long battle with lung cancer Anne died on April 17, 2003. Dr. Anne, as she was known to her many patients, was educated at the Convent of the Sacred Heart in Hove, England. She attended Kings College,London University for her pre- clinical medical training, and completed her clinical training at St. George's Hospital, London. There she met her future husband Derek, and after qualifying in 1959 they married. She worked as a family physician in London for nine years, during which time both of her sons were born. She and her husband emigrated to Canada in 1968, and settled in Williams Lake, BC. For five years she worked as a family doctor and anaesthetist before coming to Victoria in 1973. For many years she had a large family and obstetric practice, both in Oak Bay and then in Langford, until ill health forced her retirement in 1992. Following this she was able to devote her retirement to her many interests. She was an avid and knowledgeable gardener, and took an active interest in her garden and all her plants until her death. She leaves Derek, her beloved husband of 43 years, her two sons, Mark and David, and her younger sister, Maureen Oberli inSwitzerland. Our thanks go to Dr. Alan Matthews, a long time friend, colleague and our family physician. who cared for her in her final illness. Also our profound thanks to Dr. Daniel Vincent, the physicians and staff of the Cancer Clinic, thePalliative Care nurses and Hospice, who looked after her with the greatest care and compassion during her illness. There will be a private cremation. No flowers please.
