BELMONT ; Alonzo G. Gallant, 86, of 3 First St., died Monday, Dec. 31, 2007, at his home.Mr. Gallant was born Aug. 2, 1921 in Montpelier, Canada, the son of the late John and Eva (LaRoche) Gallant. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II.Mr. Gallant lived in Lawrence, Mass., for several years before moving to New Hampshire. He was employed by Western Electric for 30 years.Mr. Gallant was a communicant of St. Joseph Parish, Belmont. He enjoyed fishing and playing cards.Mr. Gallant is survived by his wife, Gladys (Houle) Gallant, of Belmont; three sons and daughters-in-law, Denis and Linda Gallant, Donald and Nancy Gallant and Brian and Paula Gallant; a daughter, Jane Donohue; stepchildren, Grant Ouellette and Lois Garabedian; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Emile Gallant; two sisters, Yvonne Conlon and Hazel Deschampe and several nephews and nieces.In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers and one sister.There will be no calling hours. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Friday, Jan. 4, 2008, at 11 a.m. in St. Joseph Parish, 96 Main St., Belmont. Burial with military honors will be held in the spring at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, Boscawen.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Community Health & Hospice Inc., 780 North Main St., Laconia, NH, 03246, or to Laconia Senior Center, Meals on Wheels, 17 Church St., Laconia, NH, 03246.Wilkinson-Beane Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 164 Pleasant St., Laconia, is in charge of the arrangements.
