ALBANY - Alma Rose Appleby, 66, died suddenly on Wednesday, August 31, 2005, peacefully at home. Born on November 18, 1938 in Clarksville, NY, she was the daughter of the late Willard and Clarabel Morey Appleby. She worked for 19 years for the Albany County Department of Social Services as their switchboard operator. She was a former member of the Onesquethaw Volunteer Fire Co. Ladies Auxiliary. Survivors include her children, Alma Cole (Bob) of Albany, Barbara Leonard of Tallahassee, Fla., James B. Whitten Jr. (Donna) of Homossa, Fla., Robert C. Price (Penny) of Albany, Joseph Appleby (Lynn) of Ravena; 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren and many niece and nephews. She was the sister of Garrett Appleby, Robert Appleby (Judy), Peter Appleby (Gail), Nancy Dobiel (James), Mary Cole, and Andy (Sandy) and the late Floyd Appleby. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Monday from 10 am to 12 noon at the Applebee Funeral Home, 403 Kenwood Ave., Delmar. A funeral service will be held Monday 12 noon at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Onesquethaw Cemetery, Clarksville. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Clarksville Community Church, P.O. Box F, Clarksville, NY 12041 or the Onesquethaw Volunteer Fire Co., Clarksville, NY 12041.
