Douglas Alex Douglas passed away suddenly on February 2, 2013 at the age of 54 years. He will be dearly missed by his loving wife Mary, and their three daughters Megan, Erin and Natalie. He will also be remembered by his sister Alison O'Dwyer (Arthur) brothers-in-law Allen Butler (Jane) and Peter Butler (Karen); nieces and nephews Edward, Beth and Carolyn O'Dwyer and Gregory and Michael Butler. He was predeceased by his parents Edward and Vivienne Douglas and infant sister Jocelyn. Though his parting was too soon, he will always remain in our hearts and memories. Alex, known for his zest for life and amazing smile had a kind heart, wonderful sense of humour, and strong loyalties to his family, friends and colleagues. He will be missed for his never-ending enthusiasm, outgoing personality, and infectious laugh. His greatest joy was his three daughters whom he unconditionally adored. His wife will miss the love of her life, her best friend, and soulmate. Alex had a passion for downhill skiing and was an avid tennis player playing regularly in the Glencoe men's tennis league and managed to commit to overall fitness and well-being. Alex was an original season ticket holder for the Calgary Flames and was a passionate hard-core fan. The Calgary Stampede was his favourite event - one he never missed. Alex was born and raised in Calgary, Alberta and graduated from Queens University with a Commerce degree in 1980. He worked for over 30 years in the oil and gas industry in Calgary. He began his career at Dome Petroleum in the finance department and evolved this career into the natural gas marketing, storage and transportation business. A celebration of Alex's life will be held on Thursday, February 7, 2013 at the Calgary Glencoe Club in the ballroom (636 29th Avenue S.W.) at 3pm.
