William M. Regan, 63, of West Yarmouth, died at home on Mar. 22, 2012 following a brief, but courageous battle with lung cancer. Despite the seriousness of his diagnosis, Bill kept his sense of humor and positive outlook and had no intention of giving up. He always looked forward to a better future. He grew up in Newton, Massachusetts where he attended Newton South High School before moving with his parents to North Carolina, where he graduated from Lumberton High School in 1967. He studied biology at the College of Santa Fe in Santa Fe, New Mexico and maintained a lifelong interest in nature. He took great pleasure in back yard bird watching, gardening, and stargazing. Having played several sports growing up, he remained an avid sports fan, and especially enjoyed watching the Patriots and Red Sox with friends and family. Bill was a long-time employee of Coca-Cola of Northern New England in Sandwich, Massachusetts and a member of the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Local 59. He was a friend of Bill and Bob for twenty-three years. He was also a proud member of the Democratic Party and a supporter of Amnesty International. Prior to moving to West Yarmouth in 2004, he lived in Plymouth, Massachusetts for twenty-five years. He is survived by his wife Annette; daughter, Natalie Regan-Lampert and her husband Brian Lampert of Mansfield, Massachusetts; daughter Amanda Regan and her boyfriend Andrew Eldredge of Barnstable, Massachusetts; sister, Maureen Grady and her husband Kenneth of Dennisport; sister, Louise Furcolo and her husband Foster Jr. of California; brother James J. Regan Jr. and his wife Caryn of Florida; sister-in-law, Elaine Adams and her husband John of Pennsylvania, along with many much-loved cousins, nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and godchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, James J. Regan Sr. in 1969 and Margaret M. Regan in 2002. He also leaves his loyal dog, Charlie. Visiting hours will be held on Wednesday, Mar. 28, 2012 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Hallett Funeral Home, 273 Station Ave., South Yarmouth. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Mar. 29, 2012, at Our Lady of the Highway Catholic Church, 1044 Rte. 28, South Yarmouth. Burial to follow.
