William Herbert Farnell 1922-2015 The death of William Herbert Farnell occurred on January 8, 2015 at the Dr. Georges L. Dumont University Hospital where he received excellent care in his final weeks. Born on February 23, 1922 and raised in Trenton, NS, the son of William and Beryl Farnell (MacKenzie), he joined the RCAF in 1942 and completed forty - seven operations over enemy territory as a rear gunner in WWII, an accomplishment he looked back upon with pride. A long time member of the Moncton's Air Force Club and the Royal Canadian Legion, he always looked for ward to Remembrance Day. More recently he observed the day at the Peoples' Park Tower where he resided. After the war he settled in Moncton and married Marjorie Brown, who predeceased him in 1972 after 28 years of marriage. In 1975 he married Rosemary Galbraith (Anderson). Herb enjoyed swimming, the cottages he built by himself at Parlee Beach, poetry and novels, fine wine and good food. With his marriage to Rose, with whom he enjoyed a particularly happy union of nearly forty years, he proved to be very good at choosing wives. An excellent provider, Herb's work life involved many jobs, but the most satisfying was with his friend Cedric Leger, a partner and co-owner of the shipping agency Trans-Ocean Timber. Herb is survived by his wife Rose, his daughter Anne Baker, his grandchildren Amy (Derrick), Chelsea (Gino) and Jamie Baker, his great-grandchildren Flora and Elodie Chartre, his step-children Gregory Galbraith (Jean), their daughter Caitlin and son David, Susan Daniszewski and her son Matthew (Crystal), Peter Galbraith and his daughters Julie and Marcie, a step-grandson Billy Galbraith (Andrea) and their daughters Taylor Ann and Chloe. Herb was predeceased by his step-son Patrick Galbraith (Brenda) and his son in law James Baker, both in 2004. At his request, a private family gathering will be held to celebrate Herb's life. Donations in memory of William made to the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch # 6. Arrangements have been entrusted to Tuttle Brothers and Riverview Funeral Home, 214 Pine Glen Rd. Riverview, NB (506) 857-8564. Online condolences can be made at www.tuttlefuneralhome.ca
