Thomas J. Regan WEYMOUTH Thomas J. Regan, of South Weymouth passed away on April 4, 2009 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was 86 years old. Born and raised in Dorchester, he was a graduate of Boston College High and Boston College class of 1950. He served as a staff sergeant in the US Army Infantry from 1942 1946. Tom was a teacher at Weymouth High, Broad Meadows in Quincy and North Quincy High. He was past president of the Quincy Education Association and a member of the Pond Plain Improvement Association. A resident of South Weymouth for over 40 years. He was a former youth baseball coach and was an avid golfer. He and his wife Muriel also loved to travel. Tom, Dad, Grampy, Uncle Tom-a true gentleman and considered by all the nicest guy you could ever meet. Beloved husband and best friend for over 56 years of Muriel H. (Donnelly) Regan. Loving father of Stephen C. Regan and his wife Darlene of Hanson and Mary P. Conte and her husband Joseph of Hingham. Devoted Grampy to Christopher and Katherine Regan of Hanson and Katelyn and Stephen Conte of Hingham. Brother of Marie McGinnis of Quincy and Marion Downing of Braintree. Predeceased by his brothers Charles Regan, Francis Regan and John Regan and also sisters Ada Person, Irene Buckley and Lorraine McCormack. Also survived by his devoted in-laws Lorraine and Dale Noland of South Weymouth, Claire and the late Merlin Donnelly of Framingham, Albert Donnelly of Braintree, Virginia and Gerald Donovan of Quincy and Freda Higgins of Holbrook as well as many loving nieces, nephews and friends. Funeral from the McDonald Funeral Home, SOUTH WEYMOUTH at 809 Main St. (Rte 18 opp. So. Shore Hosp.) Wednesday at 8:00 a.m.. followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Francis Xavier Church, South Weymouth at 9:00 oclock. Relatives and friends invited. Visiting hours Tuesday from 4:00 8:00 p.m. Interment St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Weymouth. The family would like to express their deep gratitude to Dr. Thomas OConnor and the staff at Commonwealth Hematology-Oncology as well as the staff at the John Scott Nursing Home for their care and compassion.
