CALDWELL, Shirley Parke December 19, 1916 – March 15, 2017Shirley Parke Caldwell (née Carre), a resident at Magnolia Gardens in Langley, BC, passed peacefully away on March 15. Shirley celebrated her 100th birthday in November, surrounded by devoted family and friends. She was born in Toronto, the youngest of three children of Shirley Parke Carre and Eric Forsythe Carre. She married Henry Winnett Caldwell in 1940, and remained in Toronto while Henry served in England, France and Belgium with the Royal Regiment of Canada. After the war Henry was transferred by the Bank of Nova Scotia to Lethbridge, AB; London, ON; Winnipeg, MB; and Saint John, NB. Henry and Shirley eventually retired to Cloverdale, BC. Shirley was predeceased by Henry in 1998, her daughter Linda in 2001 and her grandson Tyler in 1985. Shirley is survived by three daughters, Shirley Tilghman, Nancy Caldwell and Tracey Chapman, six grandchildren and six great- grandchildren. She was cherished by her family as a devoted wife, loving mother and grandmother, and by her friends as an always cheerful and full-of-fun companion. Shirley was also an avid golfer, curler, bridge player and lover of dogs. No service by request.
