WALLACE, Rowland (Ronnie) O my Luve''s like the melodie, That''s sweetly play''d in tune. Rowland (Ronnie) Wallace died peacefully on October 3, 2016. Rowland was born on April 21, 1927, in Glasgow, Scotland. He volunteered for the RAF at 16 years old and served as a navigator till 1946. He met the love of his life, Jeanie Smith Cumming, in 1946 and they were married on July 14th, 1949. Their son, Stuart, was born the next year. In 1952, he and his young family immigrated to Canada landing in Victoria with $20 to their name and a promised job for Rowland at the VMD working on the Navy Frigate program. They raised their three children in the family home in Fernwood. In 1964, they bought property on Lake Cowichan and built a lovely home where they retired in 1979. Rowland and Jean were active members in the Legion 210 branch. For the past 16 years, long-time friend Mary McKenzie and he shared a relationship that worked for them; her spending the summer at the lake with him, and he spending time in Scotland with her. Predeceased by his wife Jean and lovingly remembered by his son Stuart (Elaine), daughter Ronna (Gerald), son Jim (Louise); 10 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and newly arrived great-great-grandson, Owen. ''Home again in the arms of his true luve'' A celebration of Rowland''s life will be held at 1pm on Sunday, October 16, at the Lake Cowichan Legion Branch #210, 15 N. Shore Rd., Lake Cowichan, BC.
