Avis de décès de Robert S. Webster


Robert S. Webster 1930 - 2012 WEST SPRINGFIELD Robert S. Webster, 82, passed away Sunday at Baystate Medical Center. He was born in Springfield to the late former Springfield Police Officer and Medal of Valor winner, Stephen B. and Josephine M. (Ost) Webster. Robert was a graduate of the High School of Commerce class of 1946 and was active on the reunion committee for years. He also attended the form Gaugh School of Business for two years and was employed in the Accounting Department of the former Springfield Gas Light Company. In October 1948, Bob enlisted in the US Navy and served four years, in both the Atlantic and Pacific fleets, and was honorably discharged in 1952 as an Aviation Machinist 3rd Class. During that time in the Navy, he became fascinated with aircraft and was an avid fan of the aircraft industry. He began working for American Airlines at Bradley International Airport in September, 1953 and worked his way up to Supervisor-Airport Services, and remained there until his retirement in January 1995. At the time of his retirement, he was the longest and most senior employee with any agency at the airport. He thoroughly enjoyed his employment with American, and made many friends over the years. His fellow employees and co-workers nicknamed him "Webby" and "Blackcloud" and those names remained with him until now. He always liked to reminisce about the years with the company and his many experiences while there. Bob loved to travel and did it extensively in Europe, US, Caribbean and Hawaiian Islands and has numerous photo albums of his many trips. He was an avid hunter and spent many hunting seasons in Maine with his many friends and cohorts. He also liked to fish in both fresh and salt water, gardening, model airplanes, puzzles and housework. He was a former member and Quartermaster of the VFW Post 1632 of Agawam and was currently a member of the American Legion. Bob was predeceased by his first wife, Jeanette (Boissonault) Webster in 2002. He leaves his beloved second wife of 9 years, Pippa (Lewis) Webster of West Springfield, formerly of Southhampton, England, his 2 sons, Thomas Webster of Phoenix, AZ and Richard Webster of Frankfurt, Germany, 9 step-children, 31 step-grandchildren, 23 step-great-grandchildren and his ever faithful and lovable pets, "Damon, Misty and Punkin" who will sadly miss their daddy. There will be a funeral home service Monday at NOON at the TOOMEY-O'BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield St. W. Spfld, burial will follow at the MA Veteran's Memorial Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday 3-8PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Navajo Nation Council, P.O. Box 3390, Window Rock, AZ 86515.
