OBITUARY ROBERT (BOB) RAYMOND JOSEPH SAUVE Suddenly at age seventy-one, in Ottawa, of complications during heart surgery. Loving husband of forty-six years and caregiver to his sweetheart Lois (nee Gallagher). Proud father of Anne Sauve (Tim Klassen), Susan Meyer (Milton), Richard and Paul Michael (Melissa Hegney) and beloved grampa to Hannah and Nathan Meyer. Born in Verdun, Quebec and raised in St-Henri, Bob was a graduate of Loyola High School and College, McGill University, and the University of Ottawa. He had a real thirst for learning, earning himself four different university degrees, including his Master in History at age fifty-six. Bob had a passion for education, history, politics, justice and religious issues, and prided himself on being what he called un juif manque. He was a self-proclaimed curmudgeon; a wine lover, golfer, political historian, and frequently published contributor to the Letter-to-the-Editor, and author of The Quebecois Elite Patriots or Scoundrels? Bob will be missed by friends, family, golfing buddies and his cronies with whom he loved to engage in lively discussion, and debate socio-political issues. The family wishes to thank the staff at the University of Ottawa Heart Institute who made Bob feel he was in the best possible hands. Thank you for the care you gave him and the attempt you made to give him a new lease on life. The Funeral Mass will be held at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church, 151 Laurier Avenue, on Monday, July 4, 2005 at 2 p.m., preceded by visitation at 1 p.m. and followed by a reception in the church hall.
