WALLACE, RALPH E. - At the Dr. Everett Chalmers Hospital on Tuesday, November 21, 2006, Ralph E. Wallace of Fredericton passed away at the age of 83. Born in Woodstock, NB, he was a son of the late Fred and Mary Jane (Jones) Wallace. In his earlier years, he was a member of the Canadian Armed Forces. Ralph was employed for 24 years as a letter carrier with Canada Post. He also worked as a watchmaker and jewellery repairman. Music was a big part of Ralph's life, he played for the Depot Band with the Royal Canadian Armed Forces, was a member of the Antique Brass, playing the euphonium, was an inaugural member of the Fredericton Concert and Marching Band. Ralph was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion branch #4. He was always actively involved with a band, loved playing guitar, and enjoyed reading. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, (or as Ralph would say "50 long & miserable years"); one daughter, Sandra Eileen Melanson (Jeff) of Fredericton; one son, Tim Wallace (Dianna) of Saint John; one grandson, Mark Wallace of Saint John; one sister, Muriel Armstrong of Geary, NB; two nephews, Bill and Bob Armstrong. Resting at Bishop's Funeral Home, 540 Woodstock Road with visitation Thursday from 3:30 to 5:00pm and 7:00 to 9:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at St. Paul's United Church on Friday, November 24, 2006 at 11:00 am with Rev. Paul Ross officiating. Interment will be held at a later date. Contributions to the Royal Canadian Legion branch #4 or the Fredericton Lions Club would be appreciated by the family.
