WEIR, Patrick Edward - 1920-2007 - The family announces the death of Pat at Anson General Hospital in Iroquois Falls, on Friday September 21, 2007 at the age of 87 years. He was predeceased by his wife of 55 years, Doris in 2004, and by his son Lorne in 2007. He was a loving and proud father of John (Dorothy) of Ottawa; Susan Berlingeri (Don) of Kirkland Lake; Roy (Julie) of Peterborough and his daughter-in-law Carol Weir of South Porcupine. Precious grandfather to Aileen (Dave), Collin (Kathy), Nathan, Jonathan, Adam, Stephen (Erica), Angela, Michael and Stuart. He was proud to be a great grandfather to Isaac Mackenzie Felsher. He is survived by his loving sisters: Teressa McLeod of Bury, QC, Claire Thibodeau of St. Catharines, Leola Pehlemann of Scotstown, QC, and Ivy Weir of Lennoxville, QC, many cousins and nieces and nephews. He also leaves behind special friends, Madonna Richer and Dee Hurtuibise of Peterborough and John and Dean Haasen of Timmins. Pat came to Timmins in 1948 to work in the mines and he stayed with Uncle Jack, Aunt Catherine and Joy. Pat then went on to work for the town and loved tending to the gardens in the summer. He will be remembered for his love of farming and his delight in his garden. Pat was a volunteer to all. He shoveled snow for many neighbours and was a taxi driver for all who needed a ride. Pat was a talented handy man and he shared his talents with all. Pat was devoted to Doris, his family and to his faith. His devotion to the rosary and to the eucharist lead him to be a eucharistic minister to people at South Centennial Manor. Dad was blessed to spend his last years as a part of the family of the South Centennial Manor in Iroquois Falls. We are grateful to the nurses and staff who provided such loving care, compassion and support, and to Dr. Lupien for his loving care. Funeral mass will be held at 10 a.m. on Tuesday September 25, 2007 from Sacred Heart Church. Interment Timmins Memorial Cemetery.
