Odelie Samwald (nee David) July 16, 1924 - August 7, 2016 Odelie Samwald died peacefully on the evening of August 7th, 2016 in Vancouver, BC. She was born in Carruthers, Saskatchewan, the eldest child of William and Nettie David. Her younger siblings, brother Lyle David and sister Vimy Landsman, predeceased her. Odelie David and John Samwald were married in 1945. Together they built their house in St. Albert in 1958 and they remained there until 2005 when together, they celebrated their sixtieth anniversary. Odelie was for many years an active and enthusiastic volunteer with many various local organizations. She served as founding president of the St. Albert Catholic Women''s League. Odelie graduated with a B.Ed. from the University of Alberta, and taught at Archbishop O''Leary High School in Edmonton. She was an accomplished painter and poet, and she loved to travel. Odelie was predeceased by her husband John Samwald in 2005. She is loved and survived by daughter Elaine, son-in-law Huub Keeven, her son Jay, her daughter-in-law Colleen Bruce, grandchildren Radhika Samwald, RJ (Rama John) Samwald, his partner Fiona Liu, and Valin Keeven and his partner Maya Beckersmith.
