ST. JOHN SMITH Mary E. (Davitt) St. John Smith, 80 of Cape Elizabeth, Maine, died on Thursday, February 11, after a short illness. She leaves a daughter, Johanna M. Mancuso, of Milford, Mass.; a granddaughter, Jessica N. Levenson, of Uxbridge, Mass.; a grandson, Jeremiah C. Mancuso, of Salem, Mass.; and a great-grandson, Sullivan J. O’Rourke, of Uxbridge, Mass.; a sister, Cecilia E. Thurlow, of South Lancaster, Mass.; and several nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by her husband, Henry St.John-Smith, M.D., and a brother, James J. Davitt. She was born in Clinton, Mass., on May 15, 1929, the daughter of the late John J. and Mary J. (O’Malley) Davitt, and was a high-honor graduate of Clinton High School in the class of 1946. Mary was employed as a proofreader at Colonial Press Inc., Clinton, for several years, as well as in New Hampshire and at the United Nations in New York City. She enjoyed reading, travel, skiing, sailing, aviation, equestrianism, tennis, and was an accomplished artist, specializing in acrylic painting. A Memorial Service is planned for the late spring.
