Mary A. HastingsQuincy Mary A. "Maura" (Cuffe) Hastings, age 89 died peacefully, Wednesday, November 14, 2007, at the Boston Medical Center, after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family. She was born in Leenane, County Galway, Ireland, raised there and was educated in the Ursuline Convent School in Sligo and the Taylor's Hill School in Galway City. Mrs. Hastings immigrated to the United States in 1948 and lived several years in Boston before moving to Quincy fifty years ago. She was a longtime communicant at Saint John the Baptist Parish in Quincy and had been involved in various parish volunteer activities. Beloved wife for fifty-seven years of Thomas J. Hastings. Devoted mother of Mary Santos and her husband David of Wareham, Barbara Wyman and her husband Greg of Fairbanks, AK, Genevieve Keough and her husband John of Braintree, Sean Hastings and his wife, Cindy of Braintree, Philomena Lewis and her husband John of Quincy. Also survived by 13 grandchildren and 1 great-granddaughter. Sister of Peter Cuffe of England, Tony Cuffe of Dublin, Ireland, Nancy Hamilton of Leenane, Ireland, the late Philomena Cuffe, the late Rev. Patrick Cuffe, P.P. and the late Father Sean Cuffe, O.C.F. Funeral from the Sweeney Brothers Home for Funerals, 1 Independence Avenue, Quincy, Monday, November 19th at 9:15 a.m. Funeral Mass in St. John the Baptist Church, 44 School St., Quincy at 10 o'clock. Relatives and friends are invited to attend. Visiting hours Sunday 2-6 p.m. Interment Pine Hill Cemetery, West Quincy.
