Marie Azilda Green 1909-2015 The passing of Marie Azilda Green (nee Allain), occurred at Shannex Thomas Hall in Fredericton on March 19th, 2015. Azilda, born June 7, 1909 in Neguac, NB, was a direct descendant of Louis Allain, a late seventeenth century pioneer who settled in Port Royal. She was the eldest child of Jacques (Jim) Allain and Anne Cyr. Azilda was married to Henry (Harry) Joseph Green, Rothesay, NB (deceased). She is survived by her son Louis (Cathy) of Quispamsis, grandchildren Erin (Hazen Kennedy), and Joseph, also of Quispamsis; son Patrick (Nora Kelly) of Fredericton, grandchildren James (Jennifer Wall) of Calgary and Thomas (Emma Pino) of Montreal. She is also survived by her brother Ronald (Jeannita), and sister Amanda (late Leonard) of Shediac, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and godchildren, many of whom have maintained a long and loving contact with her well into her 106th year. In addition to her parents and husband, Azilda was predeceased by siblings Irene, Romeo, Patrice, Rene, Anna, Alyre, Alfreda, Romeo,(the first Romeo died as a child), Lucien, and Louis. Like many Acadian teenage girls, Azilda spent two years at the Academie Sainte Famille convent in Tracadie. As a young girl, Azilda sang the mass while her father played the organ at the Eglise St Bernard, in Neguac. In the 1920's she accompanied her mother on a train to visit her uncle in Pincher Creek Alberta, south of Calgary. She often talked about this journey and how exciting it was. Her family moved to Shediac, and not long after, Azilda left home to work in Saint John. She married and raised a family on the Green Road in Rothesay. In 1982 Azilda retired in Shediac, residing at the Cite d'age d'or. In 2010 at age 101, she moved to Shannex Thomas Hall in Fredericton. The family would like to thank the staff at Thomas Hall for the kindness and care given to Azilda. Funeral arrangements are the responsibility of McAdam's Funeral Home in Fredericton, and Frenette's Funeral Home in Shediac. There will be no visitation. A funeral mass will be held on March 27, at 11:00 am at the Eglise de Saint-Joseph, 415 Main St., Shediac, with a reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
