Marguerite Ferne Keys 1931 - 2015 was born in Markhamville on September 8, 1931; she was the daughter of the late Stanley and Sarah (Allen) McFarlane. Marguerite grew up and went to school in Markhamville. She began her working career housekeeping in Sussex and with T.E. Eaton Co. in Moncton. In 1952, she married the love of her life, Murray Keys and they began their life together in Mount Middleton. Their first child was born in 1954 and then they moved to Sussex, where the next four children arrived between 1960 and 1967. In, 1966 they bought a house on Cedar Avenue which was a wonderful neighborhood to raise a family. Their family was complete and Marguerite was busy raising them but always found the time to go to the camp in Poodiac. After Murray’s death in 1980 she continued to keep herself busy. One by one the children left home to expand their own lives. Marguerite was thrilled when she became a grandmother; she became a hockey grand mom and was an important part of their lives. As her grandchildren grew she found more time for herself. She enjoyed puzzles, knitting and reading, visiting with friends and neighbours and going for drives and dinners with her sisters-in-law. Marguerite was a long time member of the UCW and 50 Plus Group in Waterford. She worked part-time at Carleton Cards and Zellers. She never missed a balloon fiesta, she baked Christmas treats every year for staff at Sharps Drug Store and Buchannan's Furniture and always had home baked goodies for anyone stopping for a visit. Marguerite was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend.
