Josephine Jo C. (Barisano) Kirby, passed away at her home surrounded by her family members on Saturday, February 7, 2015. Jo was born in Boston and raised in the Mission Hill section of Roxbury. She was a graduate of the Mission High School affiliated with the Mission Church. Jo was the daughter of the late Carlo Barisano and Blanche (Parks) Barisano. She married and moved to Braintree in 1963. She had worked for many years as a Quality Control Supervisor for the Haemonetics Corp. in Braintree retiring in 2000. She was an avid sports fan and attended spring training for the Red Sox for twenty years. She enjoyed attending her childrens and grandchildrens sporting events. She was a faithful communicant of Sacred Heart Church, Weymouth, for over fifty years. She was the beloved wife of the late Edward J. Kirby who died in 1988. She was the adored mother of Edward J. Kirby, Jr. of Harker Heights, Texas, Paul F. Kirby married to Janis Kirby of Holbrook, Sandra M. OBrien married to Douglas OBrien of Weymouth and Stephen P. Kirby married to Bonnie Kirby of Hanover. Jo is survived by her devoted eleven grandchildren and two great-grandsons. Visiting hours will be held at the Mortimer N. Peck-Russell Peck Funeral Home 516 Washington Street, Braintree on Wednesday February 11 from 4 to 8 p.m. There will be a gathering at the funeral home Thursday February 12 at 9 a.m. to be followed by a funeral Mass at the Sacred Heart Church, Washington Street, Weymouth Landing at 10 a.m. Burial will follow at Blue Hill Cemetery, Braintree.
