CARR, Joseph William (Joe) R.C.A.F Aircrew W.W.II A.E.C.L. Retired (Chalk River Labs) In hospital in Deep River, ON on Saturday, April 15th 2006, age 81. Joe was born 1924 in Huntingdon, QC, the son of William L. Carr and Beatrice Monteith. He served overseas in W.W.II, attaining the rank of Flying Officer in the R.C.A.F. After the war he received a B.Sc in Agriculture (1949) and M.Sc in Chemistry (1951) from McGill University. He married Carol Martin in 1953 and spent several years in the pharmaceutical industry before relocating to Deep River, ON to work for Atomic Energy of Canada. He retired in 1985 after 25 years of service. His many accomplishments included winning the Quebec Sporting Rifle championship, leading many curling teams to the top spot up and down the Ottawa Valley, and producing award-winning vegetables from his garden. His beautiful raku animal sculptures are treasured works of art. Joe is survived by Carol, his loving wife of 52 years, and their three children: Michael of Ottawa, Marilyn (Harold) of Toronto, and Stephen (Kimberley) of Kitchener. He is also survived by two of his sisters, Florence Pickering of White Rock, BC and Alison Kelly of Pointe Claire, QC, and his sister-in-law Marilyn O'Regan of NJ. His eldest sister, Elizabeth Jones predeceased him. A reception will be held at the Valley Funeral Home in Deep River on Friday, April 21 from 2 to 4 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Deep River Hospital Foundation or the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
