JOSEPH ALEXANDRE (DENIS) GABRIEL CADIEUX August 9, 1931-August 5, 2003 Surrounded by his loving family at home, Denis Joseph Alexandre Gabriel Cadieux left this world for the next. The man with many names lost his valiant battle with cancer at the age of 71. Left to mourn his mother Rita; his loving wife Shirley; daughters, Eileen (Doug), Kathleen (Nigel), Colleen (David), and Janeen; his much loved grandchildren, Jean-Paul, David, Erik, Graeme, Gillian, Nicole, Lorena, Dylan, Travis; brother Edgar (Bertha); sisters, Lucette (Victor), Charlotte and Mariette (Jack); numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbours, and friends. Denis was predeceased by his father Raymond; and brother Henry. Dad enjoyed 17 years of happy retirement from the City of Winnipeg Police Department, where he retired as an Inspector in 1985. He spent countless hours in his favourite spot on earth; the garden at the lake and in the boat; fishing for the; "BIG ONE." He also enjoyed his yearly trips to Corpus Christie, Texas with his many American friends. Anyone who knew dad quickly saw he was a man filled with lots of knowledge and spirit that he was more than willing to share. You can shed tears That he is gone Or you can smile Because he lived. You can close your eyes And hope he'll come back Or you can open your eyes And see all he has left. Our family has been blessed By having him in our lives. A celebration of his life will be held on Friday 10:00 a.m. on August 8 at Holy Cross Church, 252 Dubuc St., with Rev. Fr. Lucien Roy presiding and Rev. Fr. Gerry Ward assisting. Followed by a reception at Glen Lawn Funeral Home, 455 Lagimodiere Blvd. (South of the Royal Canadian Mint), with interment to follow in the Garden of the Good Shepherd. The Honorary Pallbearers will be Gordon Wohlschlager, Joel Molin, Jean Paul Ferrier, David Ferrier, Erik Reimann, and Graeme Fortlage. The family would like to extend their special thanks to everyone who helped Dad fulfill his wish to stay at home. In lieu of flowers, donations to one of the following would be appreciated by the family. Cancer Research St. Boniface General Hospital, Hospice and Palliative Care Manitoba, or Cancer Care Manitoba.
