John H. Jack Regan 88, formerly of Natick, passed away peacefully on July 19, 2011. He was the beloved husband of the late Mary E. (Gregory) Regan who passed away in2002, son of the late John Henry and Elizabeth (Gallagher) Regan, and brother of the late Elizabeth Langevin. Born in the Brighton section of Boston, Jack was raised and educated there. He continued his studies at Suffolk University. He enlisted in the United States Navy on October 24, 1942 in Boston and served honorably during WWII. He was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, the Asiatic-Pacific Theatre Medal, and the Good Conduct Medal. Jack was honorably discharged with the rank of Radioman Second Class on December 11, 1945. Upon returning from military service, Jack played professional baseball for the Boston Braves from 1947-1950. He then began his career as a civil engineer with the Metropolitan District Commission. Jack generously shared his time and enthusiasm as a volunteer in many organizations including St. Francis House in Boston and the Elizabeth Seton Residence in Wellesley Hills. He received a special award at St. Francis House for being an outstanding volunteer. Jack was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather who adored his family and cherished spending time with them no matter what the occasion. He was also an avid Boston Red Sox fan, an avid reader, and always kept himself up-to-date on current news and events. He moved to Bangor, ME in 2006 to be closer to his family. Jack was the devoted father of Diane Hayes and her husband Robert of Bangor, ME; Gregory G. Regan of LaQuinta, CA; Kathlene Regan of Seattle, WA; and David F. Regan of Fairfield, ME. He was the cherished grandfather of Brooke Hayes Stringer and her husband Andrew of Arlington, VA; Gregory G. Regan, Jr. and Kevin Regan both of of LaQuinta, CA. Jack also leaves behind a special friend, Theresa Laliberte, and many wonderful friendships made over the past 5 years in Bangor. Relatives and friends are invited to attend Jacks funeral from the John Everett & Sons Funeral Home, 4 Park St. (at Natick Common) NATICK on Saturday, July 30, 2011 at 9:00 AM to be followed by his Mass of Christian Burial in St. Patricks Church, Natick at 10:00 AM. Burial with military honors will follow in St. Patricks Cemetery, Natick. Visiting hours will be held on Friday, July 29, 2011 from 5-8 PM. Those wishing to remember Jack may do so through memorial donations to the Elizabeth Seton Residence, 125 Oakland St. Wellesley Hills, MA 02481.
