John "Jack" D. Sheehan of Weymouth, passed away Nov. 17, 2013, surrounded by his loving family after a long and valiant battle with brain cancer. Jack was born and raised his family in Weymouth, and he also spent many years residing in Houghs Neck. Jack was proud of his many scholarly achievements, including degrees from Wentworth University and Northeastern University, as well as master's degrees from Boston University and Bridgewater State College. He was active in many community endeavors including acting as a founder of the North Weymouth Civic Association. He was assistant superintendent for Milton Public Schools for more than 20 years and most recently served as Associate Superintendent of Schools for the Archdiocese of Boston. He also served as a consultant for the Educational Quality Assessment program for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Jack was very involved in both Saint Jerome's Church and Saint Jerome's School, and was recently recognized by the students of Saint Jerome for his work to bring technology to the classroom. He loved reading and cheering for the New England Patriots, but above all Jack adored spending time with his family who were all very close to his heart. Jack is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Geri (OKeefe) Sheehan of Weymouth; loving children, Margaret S. Norton and her husband Michael of Weymouth, John D. Sheehan Jr. and his wife Rose of Weymouth, Mark C. Sheehan of Quincy, Craig G. Sheehan and his wife Tracy of Marshfield, and Michael F. Sheehan of Weymouth. He was the brother to Kathryn Hughes of Weymouth; close cousin to Kathryn Flaherty, Jack Sheehan, and the late Frederick Sheehan; grandfather to Maggie, John, and Kevin Norton, Patrick, Jack, Abigail, Siena, and Ruby Sheehan. He was also the proud uncle of many nieces and nephews. The family would also like to acknowledge the outstanding care Jack received at Massachusetts General Hospital from Dr. Elizabeth Gerstner, Dr. Will Curry, Dr. Timothy Ferris and their staffs. Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend the visiting hours Wednesday 3-8 p.m. in the McDonald Keohane Funeral Home, at 40 Sea Street (off Rte. 3A-Bicknell Square), North Weymouth. Relatives and friends will gather in the funeral home at 9:30 a.m. Thursday prior to the funeral Mass in St. Jerome Church, Weymouth, at 10:30 a.m. Burial in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery, Weymouth.
