John D. Kelley, 75, of Mendon, MA. died suddenly on Friday (January 11, 2013) at his residence. He was born in Everett, MA., the son of the late Frederic J. and the late Katherine R. (McCusker) Kelley and resided in Everett, MA. before moving to Mendon, MA. (35) years ago. Mr. Kelley graduated from Everett High School and was a US Army Korean War veteran. He was employed by Massachusetts Electric, the Everett Police Department, the MDC Police Department, and retired from the MDC PD/Massachusetts State Police several years ago. He was a former communicant of St. Michael's Church in Mendon, MA. and was presently a communicant of St. Gabriel the Archangel Church in Upton, MA. Mr. Kelley is survived by (2) sons, Michael J. Kelley of Mendon, MA. and John D. Kelley Jr. of Hudson, MA.; (3) daughters, Eileen A. Kelley of Melrose, MA., Patricia M., wife of Robert Mullen, of Beverly, MA., and Mary I. Kelley of Revere, MA.; (6) grandchildren; (4) greatgrandchildren; (2) brothers, Frederic J. Kelley Jr. of Milford, MA. and Robert Kelley of Wakefield, MA.; (2) sisters, Katherine Furey of Natick, MA. and Maureen Durant of Melrose, MA.; several nieces and nephews. He was also the brother of the late Henry and Paul Kelley. His funeral will be held on Wednesday morning (January 16) from the Edwards Memorial Funeral Home (please visit for condolence book) 44 Congress Street Milford, MA. followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 11AM in St. Gabriel the Archangel Church 151 Mendon Street Upton, MA. Burial with military honors will follow in Swandale Cemetery Hartford Ave East in Mendon, MA. A visiting hour will be held on Wednesday morning (January 16) from 9:30AM-10:30AM just prior to his funeral Mass.
