Avis de décès de John J. Keating

John J. Keating WEYMOUTH John J. "Jack" Keating, of Weymouthport, formerly of Hingham, died on April 14, 2009 at the age of 76. The beloved husband of Donna (Crawford) Keating of Weymouthport. Proud father of Mark Keating and his wife Sarah of Duxbury and the late Michael Keating. Devoted grandfather of Dylan, Owen and Annabel Keating of Duxbury. Brother-in-law to Michael Crawford and his wife Rebecca of Marblehead and Robert Crawford and his wife Jodi of Champaign, IL. Loving Uncle to Matthew and Sarah Crawford and Shad and Misti Crawford. Jack grew up in Milton, MA where he was an exceptional athlete and a gregarious friend to many, earning him the nickname 'Smiling Jack'. He graduated from Boston College High School in 1950 and his affiliation with the school and affection for its values was something he cherished for his entire life. An accomplished baseball player, Jack was the Captain of his BC High team an d was also named a member of the City of Boston All-Stars. He had the great experience of playing at Fenway Park and received an invitation for a tryout with the New York Yankees in 1950. Jack (inexplicably!) remained a diehard Yankee fan despite living his entire life in the Greater Boston Area. Jack attended Boston College before joining the United States Marine Corps in 1952. He was posted to Washington, DC and was promoted to the rank of Sergeant. His time in the Marine Corps greatly influenced the rest of Jack's life, further forging his character and instilling virtues of discipline, loyalty, commitment and hard work. After his honorable discharge from the Marines, Jack went to work for the New England Telephone Company, where he stayed for nearly 40 years holding a number of executive sales and marketing positions. He was an active member of the Association of BellTel Retirees. He had a lifelong passion for sports, especially baseball and golf. He spent many years coaching Hingham Youth Baseball, where he positively impacted many young lives. Jack loved to travel with his wife and had a deep interest in history. He will be sadly missed by all those who were blessed to have had him in their lives.
