SANTERRE, Jean (John) Joseph Israel 2008-01-21 Jean passed away quietly on Sunday, January 20th, 2008 with his family by his side at the McCausland Hospital in Terrace Bay. Jean was born in Balmoral, NB and was raised in Kapuskasing, ON. Jean moved to Terrace Bay in 1947, to work construction on the mill for Kimberly Clark. After moving to Terrace Bay, he met his wife to be Margaret LeBlanc and was married in 1952. Jean and Margaret resided in Terrace Bay where they raised their family of six children, and became a proud "Pappa" of eleven grandchildren. His favourite times were spent fishing with his best friend Al, hunting, trapping and working on his beloved cottage at Jackfish Lake. His spent hours upon hours working on his gardens at the cottage and constantly sharing the wealth of his gardens with family and friends. One of his favourite past times was picking mushrooms and various berries to be canned which gave him the title of the "Jelly King". Jean was a pillar of his community by volunteering for countless organizations such as St. Martin’s Church, Meals on Wheels, The Northshore Harvest Food Bank, Superior Seniors and any other organization that needed a helping hand. Jean was know by all that knew him as "Pappa John". Jean is survived by his loving wife, Margaret of 55 years: his children Paul, Dayle and his children John and Devon; Mark, Jayne and their children Marsha and Andre; MaryPat and her son, Michael; Guy, Shelly and their children Kimberly and Jesse of Thunder Bay; Peter, Angel and their children Alannah and James; Lara, Rob and their children Cody and Troy. Jean’s favourite four legged companion "Baby" Princess. Also survived by his sisters Sara, Annette, and Monique of Ottawa, Diane of Kapuskasing and brother, Andre (Noella) of Sudbury. Also, survived by numerous nieces and nephews across Canada. Predeceased by his parents Omere and Elmire Santerre, and Francoise Santerre (step mother), brother Bob and son in law Phillip. Mass of the resurrection to be held for "Pappa John" at St. Martin of Tours Church in Terrace Bay, on January 24th, 2008 at 11:00 am with prayers being held on Wednesday, January 23rd at 7 pm.
