Avis de décès de James Mack

MACK, James (Jim) W. December 5, 1938 – June 27, 2015It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden but peaceful passing of our beloved Jim on Saturday, June 27, 2015, at the age of 76. Jim was predeceased by his parents, Clarence and Nina Mack; as well as by his infant brother Scott. He is survived by his loving wife Leona; children Lyle (Cheryl), Lorne (Cindy Marie), Neil (Susan), and Pam (Keith); and cherished grandchildren Lucas, Ayden, and Simon. He is also survived by his brothers Robert (Lorna) Mack, Keith (Dorothy) Mack; and sister Joy-Anne (Dave) Pettigrew. Jim was born and raised in Lumsden, where he spent a happy childhood. Upon graduating high school, he joined the Royal Bank, where he worked for his entire career of 37 years. He was proud of the friendships he made in the bank over those years, and was also proud of his career. He worked very hard to provide for his family, but always ensured that family came ahead of work. Jim was a wonderful father to his four children, and did whatever he could to spend time with them, whether it was going on weekend hikes or canoe trips in the valley, camping trips, or just spending a day on the toboggan hills with them. He ensured that they always had what they needed. He was a great role model to his kids, quietly and by example instilling in them the importance of hard work, honesty, and friendliness. He was immensely proud of his children, and of his grandchildren. Jim was the perfect husband to his loving wife, Leona. Together, they were a wonderful team in raising their family, while at the same time building lifelong friendships with far too many people to count. Jim adored Lee, and in his quiet, unassuming way complemented her perfectly. They loved spending time together, and were seldom apart. Jim had a sly wit, which he used judiciously, usually in self-defense, but with impeccable timing. After retiring from the Royal Bank, Jim kept himself busy with many activities, including woodworking, genealogy, investing, winemaking and gardening. He was deservedly proud of his success in all of these pastimes. Jim was also very active his whole life, even after retiring, he was an avid curler and golfer, and the time spent with his walking group was very special to him. He also enjoyed dancing with Lee, or with anyone who would ask him. In more recent years, Jim enjoyed spending time at their place at Katepwa, and together with Lee, they made many new, dear friends. Dad was also especially happy to have travelled with Lee to Ukraine in 2013 to meet their sponsored child, Khrystyna, and we know that this meeting was very important to him. Anyone who met Jim knows that he was one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. He was unfailingly friendly – pleasant and polite to everyone he knew. He was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needed it, whether it was mowing a neighbour''s lawn, or going out in the cold to help jumpstart someone''s car. After his first stroke in May, Jim''s work ethic and determination to recover was inspirational to all who witnessed it. The family would like to sincerely thank everyone at the Wascana Rehab Centre for everything they did for Jim during his stay there. In lieu of flowers, the family gratefully requests that donations be made to Chalice (Catholic Child Sponsorship Program) www.chalice.ca or to Birthright, PO Box 3623, Regina, SK S4P 3L7. A FUNERAL MASS will be celebrated at St. Martin de Porres Roman Catholic Church, 4720 Castle Road, Regina, SK on Thursday, July 2, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Family and friends are invited to sign the online obituary and tributes page at www.regina-memorial.ca.
