Irene Victoria Bojarski Caldwell was born the daughter of Joseph and Anna Galicka Bojarski of Jamaica, New York and Poland in 1922. She lived in New Hyde Park, NY for over 50 years with the love of her life, her husband, Frank. They were in their 62nd year of marriage when he passed away in 2005. Irene had two older brothers, Henry and Joseph who predeceased her. Her younger sister, Regina, and brother in-law Joe Haley, reside in Philadelphia. Irene had three daughters, Irene Caldwell of Plymouth, MA, Barbara Canton of Oyster Bay, NY and Mary Ann Perks of Saugerties, NY. She loved her sons-in-law William Perks and Joe Canton as if they were her sons she never had. Irene was beloved by her eight grandchildren, three grandsons-in-law, and five great grandchildren. She was surrounded by these family members when she passed away peacefully at Jordan Hospital on October 16, 2011 following a weekend stay. For the last year and a half Irene lived in Plymouth with her daughter, Irene and her granddaughters, ErinAnna Smith and Jennifer Arenson Yaeger and family. During this time she came to know Plymouth as home and enjoyed everything from walks along the bike path to attending the school events of her great-grandchildren, Annie and Benjamin. She loved to listen to her grandson-in-law, David Yaeger, sing and play guitar, and she was even happier if she could chime in with a shaker in hand. The last weekend, Grandma was lucky to hear Annie and Ben sing Somewhere Over The Rainbow, once again, as she rallied. Jen sang and whispered Amazing Grace as Grandma smiled and afterwards indulged in a few more mouthfuls of chocolate ice cream. Irene's family from near and far feel so grateful for the kindness that she was shown by friends and strangers alike during her time in Plymouth. Not a day went by when she didn't meet someone who engaged her in friendly banter or would shuffle through their pocket for a piece of candy to brighten her day. Near the end of her life it was living in the moment, experiencing the real things -watching the sunset, hearing the geese, playing with her great-grandchildren, singing along to her favorite songs, and engaging with family, friends and the friendly faces of strangers -- that made her days meaningful and bright.
