George C. Kelleyof Townsend; 85 TOWNSEND -- George C. Kelley, 85, of Townsend, died unexpectedly Monday, April 22, 2013, at Nashoba Valley Medical Center, Ayer.He leaves his wife of 60 years, Mildred L. (Spaulding) Kelley; a son, George C. Kelley Jr. of Townsend and a brother-in-law, Robert C. Kelley of Shirley.He was the brother of the late Earl F. Kelley and Helen G. Kelley both of Shirley.Mr. Kelley was born in Ayer, a son of Carter T. and Pamona (Farrar) Kelley and has resided in Townsend for fifty seven years. He grew up in Shirley and attended Leominster Trade High School.During WW II he served his country in the United States Army and was a member of the Townsend American Legion Post.Prior to his retirement in 2007 Mr. Kelley worked at the Settle Shop in West Townsend. Prior to that he had worked at Page and Gleason Company in Lunenburg, Sampson Cordage Co. in Shirley and the Shirley Fire and Shirley Highway Departments. He worked briefly in the Townsend Police Department for the Rajaniemi Bus Company and also for L.B. Smith Excavation Company both in TownsendHe enjoyed hunting and fishing.KELLEY -- Funeral services will be held 10 am Friday, April 26th at the T.J. Anderson & Son Funeral Home, 250 Main Street (Rte 119) Townsend Center.
